A Prayer for Kay..

kay

Just look how darned cute she is!

Friends, I, we, have a beautiful sister in Christ named Kay F Hoffman who has been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. For those of you who know this angel of the Lord, you know what I am going to say. For those who don’t know her, just take my word. These last years have been so difficult for Kay. Her husband treated her in the worst way and she was injured to her deepest core. And yet, through it all, she was a light for Jesus. She always talked to me of her need to forgive and her need to be strong. So little blame and negativity went to her husband or to anyone else. Her facebook page has nothing but bible quotes and prayers for the well being of others. That’s just how she it- and has been- well before she was stricken with cancer. After her husband left and tried to take every penny from her, she didn’t have a lot of money. I knew that. And yet, she sent money out her meager savings to my Gofundme accounts. She gave sacrificially. Of all the friends I know on Facebook, I believe Kay demonstrates the most Christ-like behavior. I just love her so much. And I’ve never met her. How can someone shine through the written word so clearly, I wonder? How can the traits of kindness, generosity, love, patience, tenderness, calm and gentleness send themselves through black and white scribbles over the 1’s and 0’s of electronic communication? It’s because our spirits overcome the material and make themselves known. Kay’s spirit especially. She is the soft breast that you can run to when the storms hit.

I am begging you all, in my own selfishness, to pray for Kay to be healed.   Perhaps God loves her so much that he wishes her to be back with him- I don’t blame him. But I have sought her wishes for prayer and she has given me permission to be selfish in this manner. She, of course, is contented with God’s will for her. But I believe in the power of prayer. Especially communal prayer.   Doesn’t James 5 say:

13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

He HEARS us.   Most of you don’t know her- but it doesn’t matter.  She is your sister by Christ’s blood and I, too, am your sister who is asking this of you.  Please help me lift her up to our Lord.  And I know that when we ask, we receive. When we call on the name of Jesus, everything we ask, he will do- specifically to glorify the name of his Father, God. It isn’t to please us or to make us look powerful- it is to prove to the world that God is our loving Father and that he, alone, made and knows every aspect of his creation- including every atom, molecule, cell, virus, bacteria, chemical and all the forces that drive them. HE can, at will, make them do as he pleases. Jesus demonstrated that so easily to us.

So, I ask you to not only pray for my friend, Kay F Hoffman, but to glorify the name of God, who is our Father, and Jesus, in whose name, we have been given the power to do all he did and more. Thank you for reading this and for taking Kay into your hearts and prayers.

  1. I miss my mom so much, thank you for thinking of her and spreading her name. I wish everyone knew her, she was truly an angel for me.

    • Stephen, so many people online loved her. I want you to know that. It was my honor to know and love her. She was one of the kindest people I have been privileged to know. She made me want to punch anyone who hurt her and also, ashamed that I felt that way! haha. God bless you. I will never forget her. I do hope you continue to keep her in your heart and that you honor her by loving the Lord your God with all your mind, heart and soul. That would be your greatest gift to her as I have no doubt that was her greatest wish for you. Many loving thoughts, Susan

  2. I am so sorry about your friend Shannon. My prayers and tears. and yes I do “weep with those that weep.” In my nature. a gift God blessed me with. So sad. She looks so sweet and fun.
